Jumbalaya with KP Wee - Thursday, August 2, 2012

A little bit of a 'doubleheader today as I had a pre-recorded Jumbalaya show on this morning at 9:00 a.m.

I then followed that up with a live broadcast of the Vancouver Canadians - Salem-Keizer Volcanoes game played at Scotiabank Field, calling the play-by-play of the final four-and-a-half innings. The team is 4-0 this season when I'm in the broadcast booth, and 4-1 last year, meaning the C's are 8-1 with me doing play-by-play.

Canadians Broadcast - Thursday, July 26, 2012

I've missed back-to-back episodes of Jumbalaya with CJSF Radio, but something very exciting happened on Thursday, July 26th, as I was asked to fill in from the top of the fifth inning onwards for the Vancouver Canadians-Eugene Emeralds baseball game!

I had the opportunity to call the final four innings of the Canadians' 1-0 victory, which was made possible by Derrick Chung on a walk-off RBI sacrifice fly.

Once again through the magic of pre-recording, I was able to deliver the Thursday Jumbalaya today even though I wasn't physically present at the studio this morning.

A big fan of Roger Chong's jazz so this program included three of his tunes, Tin Tin II, Laugh Out Loud, and Taking It In Strides. Also music from The October Trio, Danielle French, David Newberry, Wintersleep, Lucky Sonne, and more.

Jumbalaya returns June 28th

My Jumbalaya show from Thursday, June 21st was pre-empted because of National Aboriginal Day, so even though I did record my show, it was not aired.

However, a new Jumbalaya show will be aired on Thursday, June 28th, in its regularly scheduled time at 12 noon Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific).

Roger Chong with KP Wee - Smitten by the Written - June 6, 2012

For today's show, I had the opportunity to speak with Toronto composer/jazz guitarist Roger Chong. We discussed his latest album, "Send A Little Love," and also talked about how Roger's music-writing style has evolved over the past few years, from lyrics and vocals with a rock-pop/blues theme to now mainly jazz.

I also shared a couple of new tunes from Roger's new album - "Memories of Venice" and "Intimate Strangers" - as well as an old song from his first album "In the Beginning" titled "Maybe" featuring him on vocals.
