Jumbalaya with KP Wee - May 31, 2012

Here's my Jumbalaya show from this morning - again pre-recorded, but you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. For the record, it rained this morning - but for obvious reason I didn't mention the weather during the pre-recording on purpose.

Highlights: one of Roger Chong's new tunes, Tin Tin II; The October Trio; Terri Hendrix; Jon Brooks; Kyle Eastwood.

This Week's Jumbalaya

I've been fortunate enough to have understanding bosses over the past four months--I'm looking at you, Ron and Heather!--that I've been able to sneak out of work to do my weekly radio program at CJSF.

This week, however, due to the amount of workload, I'm needed in the office on Thursday morning. Not to worry, though, as I've pre-recorded the Jumbalaya show and it will air in its regularly scheduled time on Thursday! I'll admit, it was tricky to say things like, "The auction ends today, Thursday, May 17th," when it in fact wasn't the 17th. Real tricky! Will post the links when it airs this week.

This will be the first of many pre-recorded Jumbalaya shows. I do it with Smitten by the Written, so it's not a biggie.

"Lunch Poems @ SFU" on Smitten by the Written with KP Wee - May 9, 2012

Here is the second of the "Lunch Poems @ SFU" series from April 18, 2012. Due to time constraints, I edited the recording to fit it into a half-hour segment. The highlights can be heard here, with the event beginning 3:19 in (after the announcements).

The next "Lunch Poems @ SFU" event is coming up next week, on Wednesday, May 16th, from noon to 1pm, at the SFU Harbour Centre. It will feature Sandy Shreve, who has published four poetry collections, with her guest poet, Rob Taylor.

Jumbalaya with KP Wee - May 3, 2012

Highlights on today's show:

A big boo-boo made in the second half. Yikes. Pressed the wrong button.

A little shout-out to Katie Rox for the poll she conducted on Facebook, where she asked which one Katie Rox song everybody likes. By my unofficial tally, it seems "Airplane" got the most votes, so that's what I played in honour of that.

Also, a little shout-out to Chris Ronald for his May 13th Mother's Day gig at the Tipper.

Adrian Brijbassi with KP Wee - Smitten by the Written - May 2, 2012

This interview was pre-recorded during the first round of the NHL playoffs, and before the NBA playoffs started.

Adrian Brijbassi discusses some myths about sportswriting, including the answers to questions such as:

As a writer, should you read more than you write?
How do you incorporate love into a sports story?
... and more.

Here is the first part.
Here is the second part.
